ASME SA179 Carbon Steel Boiler Tube is a specification for seamless carbon steel tubes that are specifically used in the manufacturing of heat exchangers, condensers, and boiler systems. These tubes are designed to perform in relatively lower-pressure, moderate-temperature environments compared to higher-grade steels like ASME SA192.

SA179 is a specification under the ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) standards for seamless cold-drawn carbon steel tubes. These tubes are intended for use in heat transfer applications where moderate temperature and pressure conditions prevail.

Chemical Composition:

• Carbon: 0.06–0.15%
• Manganese: 0.27–0.63%
• Phosphorus: ≤ 0.035%
• Sulfur: ≤ 0.035%
• Silicon: 0.10–0.35%

Mechanical Properties:

• Tensile Strength: 45,000–70,000 psi (310–480 MPa).
• Yield Strength: 25,000 psi (172 MPa).
• Elongation: Minimum of 30% in 8 inches (200 mm) of gauge length.
• Hardness: Relatively low, contributing to its good formability and resilience in heat transfer applications.
